so how to get your christmas on the Tokyo way? Japanese christmas involves little carols and Santa, and has more to do with lovers, fried chicken (go figure), and the ubiquitous christmas cake.

It is the epitome of "Hallmark Card" holidays, if they were ever to have an entry in encyclo-Wiki-pedia, and it is a night of lavish dinners, gifts, and kinky nights for couples (read: Valentine's day). It is a great chance to live it up, Tokyo style..and the high-end shops are ready and willing to bend to every princess' need. A couple high-end stores are holding special events and putting out special items, like the limited-edition puppet brooch from Marni. Entire shopping boulevards are also getting dressed up, like Ginza, and of course Omotesando in which I showed picutes of the Omotesando lights that were put up for the first time in 11 years.. But out of all of these I have two favorites:

"A Christmas cake to taste the 'esprit' of Chanel"

First is Chanel, which has an exclusive for their Tokyo eatery outpost, Beige by Alain Ducasse. Their master patissier, Julien Kientzler, has created a Christmas cake in the likeness of their signature quilted bag, but this one comes in a pale pink color that is inspired by the 2009 a/w collection. Just like the brand, no detail is overlooked as this Buche de Noel is topped with edible charms and dotted with silver accents. Inside is pistachio mousse and black biscuit which completes the pink-green-black color scheme, the same as the bag collection this season.

I happened to be at the restaurant for a meal very recently and caught sight of the cake advertised on a card at the table. The waiter was pretty excited about it, he continued to go on about it because it was pink and the fact it was exclusive to the restaurant. The 10cm cake is about 5,000 yen. A steal compared to the bags, especially if you manage to get a handle on the thing to carry it around...

一つは、シャネルの限定ケーキ：

　“シャネルのエスプリが味わえるクリスマスケーキ”が登場する。販売するのは、シャネル銀座ビル10階のフレンチレストラン「ベージュアラン・デュカス東京」。クリスマスでおなじみのブッシュ・ド・ノエルをシャネルのマトラッセ（キルティング）をイメージして仕上げた淡いピンク色のクリスマスケーキ「ブッシュ・マトラッセ」は、シャネル「2009年秋冬コレクション」からのインスピレーションで創作したものだ。

　同コレクションでテーマカラーとなっているグリーン、ピンク、黒をモチーフに、ピスタチオを使った淡いグリーンのムースをピンクのチョコレートでコーティング、中には黒いビスキュイを忍ばせ、カットした後も華やかな色のコントラストが楽しめるという見た目も中身も相当凝った仕上がり。ふんわりと軽やかなムースと、サックリとしたビスキュイがつくり出す食感の絶妙なニュアンスも、このケーキの魅力のひとつになっている。

だって。　ついこの間、すごく久しぶりにベージュでお食事をしたのですが、その時にテーブルの上に置いた、このケーキの詳細がのせたカードに気付き、自分も「食べたいな」と思い・・　ウェーターがすごくおすすめして「このお店限定ですよ！」と言い張って・・「ピンクの色もとても大切で・・」みたいな。色はどうこ、味わってみたくてさ・・

いや、バッグみたいに持ち歩きたくて・・バッグ実物より安いし、ハンドルをどうかつけられたら・・・

Dior is having a `Red` festival this season.
The omotesando shop is holding a special Christmas-themed haute couture exhibit, and a studio where one can put on Dior accessories, get their makeup done, and have their photo taken professionally- just like a real model "mannequin".
First, here is the haute couture exhibit.

ディオールの表参道店では、「レッド」な祭りが開催され、オートクチュールの展示といきなりスタジオとフォトシューティングに参加できる体験を用意されている。

まずはそのオート・クチュールの展示会。レッドとブラックをテーマに、　50年代から～現代まで、様々な作品がきらきらと立ってる。





a lot of the pieces on the left were created by Mr. Dior himself, in the 1950s. When you look closely, you can see all the rips and snags still left on the pieces. On the one hand you get a real sense of it's age and history, but on the other it hurts a little bit... this is couture after all, it's supposed to be p.r.i.s.t.i.n.e.


左側の作品は、ディール自信が創った1950年代のもの。近くで見ると小さな破りやほつれが残り、歴史感じると同時に、少しぐっとくる（クチュールは「完ぺき」であるものだから、欠品のように見え、ちょっと悲しきも浮かんで・・）




Red Satin Dress A/W 2004-2005 John Galliano. Finale piece, inspired by Queen Elizabeth, and the Russian and Austrian arsitocrats. Check out the huge pleats at the bottom.

"Diablotine" (小悪魔）という作品。ディオールを代表するモデル、ヴィクトワ―ルがコレクションで着用したという。

そしてこれが「ルージュ・スタジオ」。様々なレッド色の、秋冬やクルーズ・コレクションのバッグ、シューズ、スカーフなどが用意されてる。まずはレッドなメークアップをしてもらい、それからアクセアサリーを選び、最後にポーズをとったフォトグラフを撮ってもらう。すべてで45分くらいかかり、次の日に写真が自宅にとどくらしい。クルーズコレクションのジュエリー、参考商品、レディ・ディオールのバッグも選択でき、本当に貴重な体験！しかも週末限定（金土日と24日だけ。すべてタダ。
あと少しだけだから立ち寄ってみてね！

Finally, the studio where one can walk straight up to the 3rd floor, and, if one of two makeup artists is available, get their makeup done with splashes of red, and choose from a selection of accessories, and finally strike a pose on a chemise by a professional photographer.

The accessories kind of remind me the accessories wall on Project Runway. They are from the winter and cruise collections, in black and red. The Lady Dior patent red bag, red pumps, and vintage scarf were beautiful. There were even a few jewelry showpieces available. Because it was busy when I went I didn`t get to try it out, but it's open this weekend, and on the 24th...
The process takes about 45 minutes and is free.
